SUMMARY:

In August 2005, Stewart Enterprises, Inc. (SEI), the second largest provider of funeral and cemetery products and services in the United States, had properties significantly damaged by Hurricane Katrina. The insurance carrier’s allocated virtually all the property damages to flood.  CCA was retained to assess and analyze the cause and origin of the damages. CCA performed a wind versus flood analysis utilizing weather history, testing, and cataloging damages incurred, CCA concluded that SEI’s response, management, and reconstruction efforts were remarkable. CCA determined which damaged building elements were a result of wind and wind-borne debris, not a result of floodwater.
